As Marketing Director a.i. Wim Meulders was in charge of worldwide marketing with focus on rebuilding the product offer, product strategy and general product management. Interim management assignment from October 2010 till January 2012.
When Jo Van Gorp, former VP of Telenet was appointed CEO at Topcom, the company was without a clear product strategy and an outdated product range. Jo hired Wim in October 2010 to lead the new product development process. Wim took the direct lead over 3 Product Managers and with the Marketing & Communication Manager the lead over 7 FTE’s in the marcom department. The complete product line-up was revamped and put into 4 major categories. Much time was spend on the visual identity of the products as they were sold mainly through retail. The logo and house style including website were updated as well. Microsoft Dynamics was introduced as new CRM.
The new Topcom was launched in Q3 2011 on the existing markets like Belgium (link in Dutch) and expanded into new markets at the Distree EMEA even in Monaco. After the turnaround Topcom was profitable again for the first time in 5 years and closed the fiscal year 2011 with a profit of 1M€
Topcom was aquired in January 2012 by Tristar which ended Wim’s interim assignment at Topcom but the Tristar management was so impressed they asked Wim to start up and lead the new Tristar subsidiary in Belgium. More info on Topcom can be found on www.tristar.eu
