As Product Owner and Product Development Director a.i. Wim Meulders was in charge of roadmap management, writing user stories, copywriting of the text inside the product, content writing for the commercial texts and go-to-market in time.
ZapFi, a well funded Belgian start-up was in need of an experienced product director to productize the software development and hired Wim as consultant in June 2013. With Michel De Coster, CEO (ex-Belgacom Proximus) and Claudia Nieuwland, CCO (ex-BT) on board, a clear product strategy was developed and months after Wim started, the first product “Free WiFi for retailers” was succesfully launched. Big banks and insurance companies like Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis and Ethias, food and non-food retailers like Cora and Quick in Belgium and Beck’s AB InBev Germany were the first large customers joining the cloud based mobile marketing platform of ZapFi.
Wim wrote the “ZapFi Bible”, a manual for internal and later also external use which included all features of the product. He acted as SCRUM Product Owner within the agile software development team and succesfully launched every 4 weeks after 2 sprints a new version. As Product Owner, aka Product CEO, Wim was responsible for the success of a project, guided the development by bringing his vision to the team, outlined work in the Product Backlog and prioritized it based on business value. He acted as middleman between the business and the development team. Although the CMS for the Location Based sites was developped internally, Wim worked closely together with SAS on bringing Analytics and Marketing Automation into the product.
After hiring a Product Owner, Wim handed over a smooth running product department in July 2014.
